Security and Compliance

Security

Health care industry follows the HIPPA Compliance The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The HIPAA Security Rule requires covered entities to assess data security controls by conducting a risk assessment, and implement a risk management program to address any vulnerabilities that are identified.

The benefits of these technologies can certainly outweigh the potential risks, but hospitals, pharmacies, clinics and physicians, pharmaceutical manufactures, and medical device makers must be prepared to assess and mitigate security risks to protect PHI.
